Jute & Cotton Animals
CORR- the Jute Works was established in 1973 to rehabilitate the war affected, poverty stricken rural women in Bangladesh. It has grown to support over 5000 women in 17 production cooperatives all over the country using Fair Trade principles.
The women have traditionally made handcrafted jute products for their own use, but with the assistance and guidance of Corr have developed them into marketable products sold around the world. In the local climate jute grows prolifically and can be harvested annually making it an economical and plentiful raw material for the women to use.
The women have been able to help build homes for their families and educate their children to a higher level through the sale of the Handcrafts.
